Jan Fuisting is a Master Mariner heading Taylor & Co (Hamburg) Ltd since joining the company in April 2015. Having previously served as a deck officer with various shipping companies on board general cargo and container vessels, Jan then went on to join a major German Marine Consultancy where in 2009 he became Senior Partner and then Managing Director in 2010. During this time, Jan also served in the reserve forces of the German Navy.
Jan has been instructed on behalf of Shipowners, Charterers, H&M/Underwriters, P&I Associations, Port Authorities, insurance companies, salvors, law firms and cargo interests in a variety of case types, including:
Major casualties on behalf of P&I, H&M and salvage interests, including damage/total loss of cargoes due to fire, collision and grounding, etc.
Temperatures claims to various frozen and chilled cargoes.
Various claims to moisture sensitive cargoes, e.g. fertilizers, steel products, food-stuff, paper, etc.
Shift/Loss of various deck cargoes.
Loss of life due to collision, accidents at work.
Oil Pollution.
On-Off Hire of a wide range of vessels, including bulk-, container-, tanker-, RoRo cargo/pax and reefer vessels.
Damage to fixed and floating objects.
Jan is a member of the VDSS (Verband Deutscher Schiffahrt-Sachverständiger), FEMAS (The Federation of European Maritime Associations of Surveyors and Consultants) and GMAA (German Maritime Arbitration Association).
