Clive Taylor is a Marine Cargo Consultant and Managing Director of Taylor Marine TR Little. Prior to establishing Taylor Marine in 1994, Clive served as a deck officer with Ocean Fleets on board general cargo liner vessels, containerships and OBO’s, also spending a period of time in coastal shipping.
On leaving the sea, Clive then spent several years as a cargo surveyor in the Middle East where he was involved principally with the investigation of losses to bulk oil cargoes, and steel cargo claims.
Returning to the UK, Clive became a director of Stanton Marine, a company providing marine superintendency and survey services.
Clive has assisted in compiling a series of loss prevention and claims management booklets, in addition to appearing in Club Training Videos on behalf of International Group P&I Clubs. He has been retained over many years to attend a number of major casualties, resulting variously from fires, explosions and groundings, to advise and assist with the recovery and on-shipment of a wide range of cargo types, particularly containerised. This has involved the compilation of a number of comprehensive cargo databases for the purposes of salvage and general average adjustments.
Clive is also regularly instructed to conduct pre-risk assessments of vessels, including structural surveys and auditing of on-board management systems.
Clive is a member of The Energy Institute, where he has previously sat on the North West Branch Committee, and is a member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors.
