CRANE FAILURE

Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of solicitors to determine the probably cause of a crane failure on a 36,294 GT Bulk Carrier following parting of a lifting wire, resulting in damage to steel cargo during discharge operations.  It was found that the cause of failure was likely due to overload of the lifting wire.
