Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of H&M insurers of a 7,606 gross tonne Ro-Ro vessel to determine the cause and extent of damages sustained to the bowthruster unit, which was reportedly suffering a loss of lubricating oil through sealing arrangements. Our engineering surveyors attended on board the vessel to investigate the incident whereupon it was determined that a foreign object had been injested into the bowthruster, causing damages to the propeller blades and inbalance and vibration issues when the unit was running. A full inspection of damages was carried out and an estimate of repair costs provided.
