MAERSK HONAM

Taylor Marine Liverpool were appointed on behalf of Salvors, with Taylor Marine Hamburg engaged by cargo P&I insurers, following an explosion and major fire on board the 15000+ TEU container vessel "Maersk Honam", which erupted in one of the ship's cargo holds during passage of the vessel from Singapore on 6th March 2018.  Salvage operations were later initiated under a Lloyds Open Form Contract with General Average declared and the vessel was towed to the designated port of refuge in Jebel Ali, UAE upon containment of the fire.

Our specialist cargo surveyors assisted throughout the casualty operation and mobilised at Jebel Ali to monitor discharge operations and undertake subsequent joint surveys of affected containers.
