DAMAGE TO TIMBER CARGO

Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of owner’s P&I insurers to determine the nature, cause and extent of damages to a cargo of wood products for discharging at the port of Birkenhead, UK. Damages were initially reported as having resulted from negligent handling by stevedores during discharge operations, however further investigation by our team found that cargo had shifted during bad weather, having been inadequately stowed on board.
