WETTING DAMAGE TO STEEL

Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of Time Charterers' P&I insurers to attend survey of steel products following allegations of wetting damage, reportedly sustained to cargo during carriage on board the vessel.  Our surveyors attended joint survey at the discharge port, together with cargo interest surveyors, to examine the affected cargo, whereupon it was found that cargo had been exposed to wetting due to inadequate warehouse storage facilities, rather than on board the vessel.  Findings issued by Taylor Marine were therefore able to assist clients in defending claims brought forward by cargo interests.
