CONTACT DAMAGE WITH RAMP

Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of Owner's H&M Underwriters to assess the nature, cause and extent of damages reportedly sustained to both a container vessel and dock structure during manoeuvring of the vessel from the loading berth.  Our surveyors were able to determine the cause of the incident, which was found due to failure of the vessel's CPP (controlled pitch propeller) unit.  Inspection of damages sustained to the ship's hull and Ro/Ro ramp were subsequently carried out, followed by assessment of repair costs.
