Taylor Marine were appointed on behalf of the ship owner’s P&I Club to investigate the nature, cause, and extent of alleged wetting damage to a cargo of bulk fertilizer carried on board a general cargo vessel. Our team attended on board to undertake a thorough investigation, the result of which determined the most likely cause to be corrosion and wastage of the ship’s inner drainage channels to the forward hatch coamings. This subsequently allowed water to enter the hold during loading operations and periods of heavy weather whilst the vessel was underway to the discharge port.
